The metaverse has no single owner

And it shall be democratically controlled.

The word "metaverse" first appeared publicly in 1992 in a novel named SnowCrash. In the novel, the metaverse is a visual simulator of a physical environment that uses Virtual Reality and allows participants to interact directly with each other and also has an economy of its own. In the novel the metaverse is a digital means to escape an oppressive world.

Mark Zuckerberg made the word "metaverse" famous in 2021. However, Facebook will regulate all social and economic interactions between the participants of such centralized metaverse; while the attractions of the original metaverse are autonomy and sovereignty in a digital world.

This is where the metaverse and crypto meet. Let's remember the original idea of Bitcoin, which was very simple: that two users are able to make direct transactions with each other on the internet without intermediaries, be it banks, governments or platforms like Facebook. Before Zuckerberg there were at least 10 metaverses in different crypto networks.
